Misty Rhodes
Director, Academic Programs-CAFE

Misty Rhodes is the director for Academic Programs associated with the Colleges of Education, Fine Arts, Architecture and Arts and Sciences, for University Outreach College of Continuing Education at the University of Oklahoma. She received a bachelor’s degree in public affairs and administration from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s degree in management from Southern Nazarene University. Rhodes brings to OU an extensive background in training and development, project management and quality assurance from the HERTZ Corporation, which includes training in Six Sigma and LEAN methodologies. Prior to Hertz, she worked in commercial banking and property management. Rhodes is an elected member of Delta Mu Delta and National Honor Society for Business Administration and holds certificates in training and development, which include Critical Skills for Customer Partnerships and Foundations of Management.
In her role as director, Rhodes oversees the development and delivery of national and international credit programs, degrees, travel-study programs and non-credit training programs, including business and industry relationships with the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel, Petro China and the China National Offshore Oil Company. Additionally, she is responsible for the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) program as well as the administration of contracts with public, private and government agencies such as Lockheed Martin and Homeland Security. Along with her business background, Rhodes brings an enthusiasm and vision that will enhance CAFÉ and University Outreach.

E. Hamilton
Director, Center for English as a Second

Mark Hamilton is the director for the Center for
English as a Second Language at the University of Oklahoma. He received a bachelor’s degree
in letters from University of Oklahoma and a
master’s
degree in teaching English to speakers of other
languages from Indiana University.
Prior to coming to OU, Hamilton served as an instructor
and head curriculum developer at Eternal-Life Christ
College in Taipei, Taiwan. While in Taiwan, he
also edited English language textbooks, published
articles in magazines for language learners and
appeared weekly on a radio show. Hamilton has also
taught at Yonsei University and Kangnung National
University in Korea and with the Japan Exchange
and Teaching Programme.
The Center for English as a Second Language (CESL)
offers an intensive English program for students
who wish to improve their English quickly and thoroughly.
CESL classes serve both beginning and advanced
levels of English language skills.
Sharon Gou
Director, Confucius Institute

Sharon Gou is the director of the University of Oklahoma Confucius Institute (OUCI) and the co-director of the China Outreach Institute. The Confucius Institute is a collaborative program between the OU College of Arts and Sciences and University Outreach, College of Continuing Education. Its mission is to promote the teaching of the Chinese language and culture to individuals through mutually beneficial partnerships with governments, corporations and educational and research institutions. Gou works closely with members of OUCI executive committee to provide strategic vision and direction for the institute.
As the director of the China Outreach Institute, Gou connects the educational resources of OU to China and offers the OU community travel opportunities to learn about China. The institute also supports and enhances current Chinese business partnerships with University of Oklahoma Outreach and the continuing development of business partnerships through training and development. Gou is responsible for the administration of training programs with public, private and government agencies such as TsingHua University, Zhejiang University, SMIC International School, Zhejiang Technology University of Economics, China Association for International Exchange of Personnel, State Administration of Work Safety, PetroChina Limited and China National Offshore Oil Corporation.
Prior to becoming a Sooner, Gou worked as a business analyst at Nortel Networks in Raleigh, N.C. and as a quality control manager/engineer in City of Beijing’s Cultural and Historic Preservation Bureau. In her spare time, Gou volunteers as the principal of Oklahoma ABC Chinese School in Norman and serves as the advisor for the Society of Chinese Scholars and Students at OU.
Darlene Long
Program Specialist II

Darlene Long is a program specialist II for Academic Programs-CAFE. Long develops and facilitates programs especially for educators, counselors, social workers and parents by means of workshops and conferences. These programs are designed to help meet the needs of school districts through out the state of Oklahoma. She also facilitates the administration of several off-campus cohort degree programs for various colleges within the University family, as well as the administration of credit courses on and off campus.
In addition, Long serves as the state director for American Council on Education (ACE). In this advocacy role she helps promote ACE College Credit Recommendation Service which helps adults obtain academic credit for learning acquired outside the college classroom.
Pamela Reagan
Program Specialist II
B.S., Child Development/Family Studies, University of North Texas
As a program specialist, Pamela Reagan is responsible for the development of credit and noncredit programs, courses and conferences. Aspects of the development process include writing proposals and grants, negotiating contracts, coordinating travel study programs and handling all on and off site logistical details. Reagan primarily works with the College of Arts and Sciences and Fine Arts and also assists the Center for English as a Second Language with large groups and cultural excursions. Prior to coming to OU, Reagan’s continuing education background involved positions as an educational program manager at The Center for Biomedical Continuing Education in Irving, Texas and as a senior continuing education coordinator at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
Susan Hosler
Staff Assistant III
Susan Hosler has been an administrative assistant with Academic Programs-CAFE since 2000. Her work involves processing ESL admission letters for international students to obtain an F-1 student visa for travel to the United States and begin their ESL studies at the University of Oklahoma. In addition, Hosler assists in the planning and implementation of credit and noncredit programs, as well as assisting with grant-funded programs such as the LEAN/Six Sigma project.
Prior to coming to University Outreach, Hosler worked with the OU McNair Scholars Program, which helps to prepare eligible undergraduates to pursue graduate study.
Sammi Fields
Staff Assistant III
Sammi Fields has been a staff assistant III for Academic Programs-CAFE since 2002. Her responsibilities include providing clerical support for credit and noncredit programs, in conjunction with various departments such as education, engineering and arts and sciences. Fields also assists with such programs as the Advanced Placement Summer Institute, which provides training to public and private school teachers in their specific subject areas. In addition, workshops that are designed to educate counselors, teachers and parents are another facet of the exciting outreach offerings that she actively facilitates in Academic Programs.
Prior to coming to the College of Continuing Education, Fields worked in the department of Disability and Judicial Services, a division of Student Affairs at the University of Oklahoma.
Linda Green
Staff Assistant II
Linda Green has been an administrative assistant for the Academic Programs-CAFE since 1991 and is the first point of contact to all clients to the department. In her duties, she has assisted with program coordination for numerous outreach projects including credit and noncredit programs, travel-study courses and grant-funded workshops. Green also assists with international student programs through the Center for English as a Second Language.
