Advanced Placement* Summer Institute
Housing and Meal Information - New arrangements this year!
Remember all-night pajama parties, the smell of popcorn in the hallways, and early morning classes? Yes? Well, welcome back to college!
All housing for the Institutes will be “student style” in one of the dormitories on campus. The rooms are double occupancy with two twin beds and a bathroom shared by a maximum of four participants. One set of sheets, a blanket, pillow, two towels and two washcloths will be available to each teacher. Any other required “comfort” items should be brought from home.
A limited number of single rooms are available for an additional cost of $100 for the week, payable at the time of registration for the Institute. Participants in single rooms will share a bathroom with one or two other participants.
Room reservations and roommate requests must be made via the Institute registration form. Roommate requests will be honored if at all possible. If no roommate is indicated for a double room or if the requested roommate does not register for the Institute, one will be assigned for the week.
All dormitory residents must respect the University conduct code which can be found at http://www.ou.edu/studentcode/. All rooms are non-smoking. Alcohol is not allowed in the dormitories on the University of Oklahoma campus.
Dormitory residents receive three meals a day in Couch Cafeteria beginning with breakfast Monday and ending with breakfast Friday. All institute participants (residents and commuters) receive lunch Monday through Thursday.
Check-in will occur in the lobby of the assigned dormitory (noted in participant’s acknowledgement letter) and will run from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22 for week one and on Sunday, July 6 for week two. Check-out time is noon on Friday for both Institutes. If you are a resident and do not plan to arrive until Monday, please let us know so that we can hold your room. Single room costs will not be affected by Monday arrival.
Courses will be held at the:
Thurman White Forum Building
University of Oklahoma College of Continuing Education
1604 Asp Avenue

Travel/Maps
Most Oklahoma teachers drive to the Institutes. Driving directions may be acquired on mapquest. The street address for the Forum Building is 1704 Asp Avenue, Norman, OK 73072. Or you can check the OU map or the Outreach map for printed directions and a map of the College of Continuing Education area.
If you fly, your destination airport will be Will Rogers International Airport in Oklahoma City. One way to get to the campus is to take a blue airport shuttle van. You can pre-arrange your shuttle by contacting them via their Web site: www.taxivan.com or you can just look for the blue vans outside baggage claim at the airport.
Oklahoma AP* Incentive funds will not cover travel expenses. Teachers need to contact their local school districts about the possibility of funding for these expenses.
Parking
Free parking is available in the parking lot located south of the Forum Building for commuters, and they will receive a parking pass when they check in for the institute on Monday morning. A special conference parking permit will be issued to participants who stay at the dormitory when they check-in on Sunday, and they may park near the dormitory except in slots designated Faculty in Residence, handicapped, metered or service delivery. Those participating in the Biology class will also receive a temporary, one-week permit for a lot near Richards Hall on main campus along with maps and instructions during the opening session on Monday morning. Note that Biology participants will still be required to walk several blocks daily.
